Our Tonga baskets were handmade by the Tonga women in Zimbabwe. The skill of basket weaving has provided a sustainable source of income for the women and their families. Traditionally, the baskets were and are still used to carry maize from the fields and then for winnowing grains. The materials used to create the baskets include palm leaves and other natural sources like wild grass, reeds, and vines. A medium sized basket can take 2 weeks to complete!
